For me this is just brilliant. I always wanted to know how to achieve those vintage effects. I use this resource since `manicho released it and learnt a lot from the pre-made actions including how to make my own actions.
I gave the Technique only 4.5 stars because there´s sometimes an alert message that tolds that Photoshop isn´t able to find the Background layer but I think it´s only I´m using a german version.
Impact and Vision is five star rated because it has a great impact for me and hope it was `manichos vision to help beginners on the right path to becoming successful Photoshoppers :D

There's a lot to be said for this. Not only are there a variety of actions for a potential to use here, but each one creates a fun, new, or overall helpful effect if used. The preview image is also very well thought out, giving both a visual sampling of the effects and a list of general classifications of the effects. It's very clear that you put forth a great deal of thought and effort. This is a very useful deviation to both new and veteran photo-manipulators alike. You're being both generous and informative with this deviation. Keep up all the good work.

These seem pretty good, but I really wish they were non-destructive. There's no way to quickly preview each action and compare them against one another, nor is there to make tweaks after it is done, save for removing the merging steps within the action.

Hello
Don't know if,my previous comment was handled (as i was not signed in)

I download the "50 Actions for Photoshop" package and installed it

Unfortunately, my versions of Photoshop are french (CS6 & CC)

Usually, I can "translate" the required steps (mainly change the name of the layers  to be consistent with the french (i.e  "Background" becomes "Arrière-plan", "Curves" becomes "Courbes" ....)

But in most of the script developped in this package, I come across a step that says :

Hide layer "Brightness/Contrast 1" over layer "Layers 1" over layer "Curves 1"

or

Display layer "Brightness/Contrast 1" over layer "Layers 1" over layer "Curves 1"

I don't see what this operation does and cannot "mimic" it manually

Can someone explain what this does, how it can be preformed, what "basic" operations are done .....     Ant help would be welcome !!!

Thanks     Have a good day

Hey... So, are you trying to manually follow all these steps? I'm not sure what specific action you are using, but sounds to me like the step you are describing is just 'activating' or 'deactivating' the little eye icon next to a layer. Not sure, actually.

If you can take a screenshot a post a link here or something, that'd give me a better idea of how to help you.

Hi Manicho,

I'm very sorry for late reply. I did log-in devianart several times before, but saw no notification, thought you did not reply.

Basically, my app would capture video, applying a filter on it (in this case, the filter is your PS action) so that the result video would have a more beautiful look. An example is Instagram (that is for photo, not video though).

Please consider!
Best Regards.
